an original 3-man cell of Ninjas I created. 'cause I was bored and I've been reading too much Naruto lately.

excuse the crappy picture, as my scanner's not up and running at the moment. this will get taken down and replaced once I get that sorted out. so for now, you get this.

from left to right, it's Zaiten, Kairen, and Sho. they were Sand shinobi originally, but as you can see, they slashed their headbands. now they're just kind of rogue wandering ninjas. they're half-siblings, Zaiten being the oldest and Sho the youngest. Zaiten and Kairen share a mother - she died after giving birth to Kairen. they all have the same father. their scars are from an arsonist's fire that destroyed their father's house. their father, a war leader, was largely disliked in their village. he died in the fire. Sho's mother fled afterwards.

a little bit about them:

Zaiten - uses lightning chakra. name is written with the kanji "zai" from "criminal" and "ten" from "sky, heaven." his right arm was torn off in a fight, so he got this nifty one to replace it. as such, he can only wield swords in his left hand. he uses the traditional combination of swords, however - the only one of the three who does. personality wise, he's the leader of the three. proud, stubborn, and brash. reckless. but also fiercely protective, especially towards Sho.

Kairen - uses water chakra. name is written with the kanji "kai" from "seawater" and "ren" from "continuous." she uses two katanas and a wakizashi, but no tanto. she's the tactician of the group. silent, calculating, and concerned - she's the one who holds them together.

Sho - uses fire chakra. name is written with the kanji "sho" from "firefight." (there should be a line over the "o" to signify that it's a longer vowel, in both his name and the kanji reading.) uses two wakizashis and a tanto. he's too small for a katana. fights with both swords at once. coldly logical, bitter, and introverted. blames himself for his mother leaving, while at the same time hating her for abandoning him.

total time: not really sure. two hours on the painting alone. the kimono patterns took a while to draw - maybe 40 minutes total. the initial sketching and design took the longest - it was in progress for about a week. maybe more.
